[ he lets the comforting silence overtake them for a few moments, his hand absently playing with hibiki's hair. it's soft. nothing like his messy curls that are probably soft, too, but far less silky. ]

You're warm.

[ he means it as a compliment. ]

[ He's rather used to people calling him cold, not warm. Maybe that's the reason behind his brief laugh. ]

Am I? That's something new.

[ His hand goes up to Akira's cheek to caress it gently. ]

Are you sure you're not mistaken?

[actus]

Pretty sure. Still warm to me.

[ he smirks. ]

Maybe I'm just colder than you.

[ how mysterious??? he leans into the touch though, grinning, eyes shutting to focus solely on the feel. ]

[secrowtary]

Don't be ridiculous, no one's colder than Captain Kohaku.

[ The tone is as dramatic as it can only be, but it's not as easy to stick to the decorum when the urge to chuckle is real. Hibiki remains strong, though. ]

Do you think we'll be getting any sleep tonight...?

[ This is an innocent question, just so you know. ]

[actus]

[ ... how is that at all innocent. akira tries to go with the flow, despite the urge to latch onto that. ]

Ah... Maybe? I don't mind either way. I like talking to you.

[ so if they lay up talking all night, it's fine with him. if they doze off, that's fine, too. there's no real downside to this arrangement. ]

Sleep whenever you're tired, though. Thief's honor that I won't creepily watch you sleep.

[secrowtary]

[ That's as innocent as innocent a question can be...! ]

I'm not tired yet. [ A yawn follows his words, which ruins the effect. ] Really.

[ That didn't sound too reassuring, though. ]

I want to hear more stories about you. Tell me something, please.

[actus]

[ wow hibiki. wow. ]

Cool stories or?

[ akira please. he brushes hibiki's hair behind his ear. ]

[secrowtary]

Anything will do.

[ Let him close his eyes for a few minutes... ]

[actus]

I mean, one time I fell on a treadmill.

[ this is his go to story... ]

[secrowtary]

Poor Akira.

[ Smiling to himself, Hibiki lets his hand wander off to find the other boy's and entwine their fingers together.

He's either half-asleep or pretending to be. ]

[actus]

[ he's really glad he told hibiki he could hold his hand whenever he wanted. he really enjoys this. ]

When I first started making coffee, my guardian spit it out because it tasted so crappy. I've never been more disappointed in my life.

[ he's obviously joking about that last bit given the deadpan. ]

[secrowtary]

Coffee...I could use a cup of it right now...

[ Honestly, he is a bit tired. Not that much to doze off right away, but the warmth of Akira's body makes it more difficult to focus on staying awake. ]

[actus]

I don't think there's anything I can make it with here.

[ he ponders for a moment. ]

I did get the Palai to let me use their cafe to make Giorno a cup, though. We can go sometime.

[secrowtary]

[ The reply doesn't come, unless Hibiki nuzzling into Akira's chest counts as one. He'll be irritated with himself in the morning as he truly considered staying up the whole night, hoping to learn as much as possible about him. ]

[actus]

[ ... that's so adorable. he shifts his arm so that they're wrapped loosely, comfortably, around hibiki. ]

Goodnight, Hibiki.

[ he grins, tipping his head down to kiss the crown of his head. goodnight, sweet prince. ]

[secrowtary]

[ At the very least, he makes up for falling asleep so fast in the morning by waking up earlier than usual. He never promised not to watch Akira asleep, so he's going to do just that. But first of all, Hibiki is going to pinch his own hand hard, checking if this isn't a dream. Simply observing the other youth is difficult, but the urge to trace his fingertips along Akira's jaw is easy to fight off when he realizes that could wake him up.

After a few minutes of careful studying every feature of sleeping Akira, Hibiki whispers to himself, softly as possible. ]

How dare you, Thief. You stole my heart.

[ His own words make him want to laugh. So cheesy. At this rate, he'll reach Kagura's level in no time. ]

[ the words, no matter how quietly spoken, manage to stir akira. he's used to the background noise of pots and pans from downstairs, the smell of early morning coffee, and the fumbling of small cat paws. he isn't used to a soft voice and a warmer body.

his eyes flutter open and he groggily blinks at hibiki. then shuts his eyes again. and then hugs hibiki closer like a pillow. ]

...Mm. Five more minutes?

[secrowtary]

[ He's certainly not used to filling a role of a pillow. At the same time, this awakening is the most endearing thing. Even if it's five more hours rather than minutes, he won't mind.

It's amusing that the thought they spent a night together already sinks in right now of all times. ]

[ listen, it was brought on by a desire to comfort! not hormones! it's fine.

akira remains still for a few more moments, drifting in and out of sleep. eventually, the gears in his head start working again and he opens his eyes. his hair is even messier than usual and he has his face buried against hibiki's arm. it's quite the look for a phantom thief. ]

Morning, sunshine. [ he yawns, blearily blinking up at him. ]

[ If sleeping Akira is endearing that there's no words to describe how adorable he is just the moment he gets awake. Not only it makes Hibiki's heart flutter, but it brings a smile on his lips, too. Not kissing the top of his head is out of the question.

Moreover, he's looking forward to seeing Akira's bedhair in its full glory. He'll try not to laugh...too much. ]

Morning. I wouldn't have thought that you sleep talk.

[ IT'S TOO EARLY TO TRICK HIM LIKE THIS, HIBIKI. HAVE MERCY ]

[ he's the laziest boy ever. oh the life of a teenager. ]

Hm...? I sleep talk? [ there's panic for a hot second ad he wonders just what embarrassing things he would say when he slept. hopefully nothing scandalous. oh god. ]

I missed you. [ he yawns again, tipping his head up to kiss hibiki's cheek without thinking. ]

[secrowtary]

[ There goes his plan. Whatever Hibiki wanted to say, he needs to calm down first after that morning kiss. ]

Next time I won't be the first to doze off, promise.

[ He still feels bad about it, but a moment later he realizes that he learned a few important things about Akira. In his mind's eye he pictures Morgan's, Akira's friends on a school trip and goes through two stories he heard a few hours ago. Getting to know him like this, it feels so...nice. Hibiki idly brushes the signet on Akira's neck, wondering what he'll show him next. Whatever it'll be, he can't wait to see it. ]

[actus]

'kay.

[ much like a sleepy cat, akira stretches but then curls back in close. he keeps hibiki close, head bowed against his shoulder. this is stupidly comfortable. sorry he's such a koala. ]

That tickles. [ he laughs, warmly, opening his eyes again to peek up at hibiki. he meets his gaze rather lazily. ] Hi. I could get used to this.

[secrowtary]

[ The thought that Akira's so alike to a cat strikes him all of a sudden, even though it's not the first time he's been acting like this. Also, Hibiki is so confused about the repeated greetings, but he's going to play along. ]

Hello...? Get used to tickling or waking up next to me?

[ Tracing circles on the surface of the signet, Hibiki makes sure his gaze won't shift somewhere away, just locks his eyes on the koala next to him. ]

[actus]

Next to you.

[ a drowsy akira makes far too little sense. he just rambles. definitely not cool. at least now he seems more awake than he previously was. waking up next to someone is even better than akira expected it to be. it's simple and warm and safe. ]

Did you sleep ok? [ and hibiki's eyes are alarmingly pretty from this angle so he keeps staring. ]
